Is this package right for you?
This may be a good fit if:
- You are legally married (not just in a domestic partnership)
- You and your spouse intend to reach a full written agreement on all issues
- Neither spouse has filed the divorce petition yet
- At least one of you has lived in California for at least 6 months and in your county for at least 3 months prior to filing the divorce petition
- Neither of you is currently represented by an attorney
- Both of you are aware of and willing to cooperate with the UDIL process
- You don't currently need the court to issue temporary orders — for example, for custody, support, or visitation
- You understand that California law requires a mandatory 6-month waiting period before a divorce can be finalized
- You understand that court filing fees and QDRO (retirement account division) preparation are not included

- Note: While dissolutions of domestic partnerships use similar forms and processes to divorces, our software is currently built to accommodate marriage dissolutions only.

What the Judgment-Builder Portion of This Package Doesn't Cover
These items apply specifically to the Judgment-Builder step (Step 3: Build the Judgment) of this package — the Petition and Financial Disclosures interviews aren't affected.
- Notarization — Does not include notarization. Cases proceeding as uncontested with a written agreement do not require the agreement to be signed by both parties and notarized; if your case requires notarization, that must be arranged separately.
- QDRO / Retirement Account Division — Does not include preparation of a Qualified Domestic Relations Order (QDRO). The interview flags which retirement accounts may require a QDRO based on your answers in the Property & Debts section, but preparing the QDRO itself is outside the scope of this service.
- Child Support Requests Involving DCSS — Does not include contacting or interacting with the Department of Child Support Services (DCSS) or other third-party agencies. If DCSS must be joined to your case, the interview will flag that requirement, but you'll need to handle that agency contact yourself — the software only reflects the child support orders you indicate you want included in your judgment.
- FL-150 (Income and Expense Declaration) — This package includes the Financial Disclosures interview, which prepares the FL-150 needed for cases involving minor children — so if you complete that interview, you're already covered here at no extra cost.
