Kelly Crabtree

Kelly Crabtree is the Co-Founder of U Do It Legal and a certified Domestic Violence Counselor with extensive experience supporting survivors navigating the family court system. Her background combines hands-on advocacy with a deep commitment to making the legal system accessible to everyone — regardless of income or circumstance.

As a seasoned Court Self-Help Center volunteer, Kelly spent years working directly with self-represented litigants in California courthouses — helping them understand the forms, the process, and the stakes involved in their cases. That experience gave her an intimate understanding of where the system fails people, and what it would take to truly close the access-to-justice gap.

Kelly co-founded U Do It Legal alongside attorney Ryan Stearns with the goal of building technology that replicates the guidance of a court self-help center — but available online, at any hour, for any Californian. Her expertise in domestic violence counseling shapes every aspect of UDIL's trauma-informed design, from how questions are worded to how sensitive information is handled.

Kelly leads UDIL's DV advocacy work, survivor community initiatives, and the U Tell It storytelling platform — a space where survivors can share their experiences and help others feel less alone.
